He’s extremely off putting and unlikable. But he’s also 100% right. It sucks that he isn’t even slightly charismatic. I mean… knowing his history I can forgive him for that without question. But still - a big part of politics is building alliances and he will never, EVER be able to do that on anything but an ideological position and that’s not a recipe for success.

wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.comto politics @lemmy.world•Walmart’s Billionaire Heiress Buys Full-Page Ad Urging People To ‘Mobilize’ At June 14 Anti-Trump Protests15·22 days agoWell the right has been pumping money into Washington for the last 60 years. They run thinktanks that falsely justify any bullshit bill or budget they want to pass. They own 6/6 national tv networks. They own the social media networks. They own the influencers.
It’s cost more than a few billion to fight back against that.
edit: They’ve got the majority of churches too. Somehow. I really never understood how people could hold rightard beliefs and the teachings of Jesus in the same head simultaneously.

They’re under his command until a legal order from the POTUS supercedes his command.
wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.comto politics @lemmy.world•Trump deploys National Guard after second day of Los Angeles immigration protests | CNN22·24 days agoLegally I believe the National Guard must be mobilized for a legal reason and until Trump has identified an actual cause, he cannot mobilize them himself. So Newson should just order them to stand down.
Newson hasn’t done that though.

The only way for her to do this safely is if she became an official diplomat of Sweden.

The better and more practical option is to take over the democratic party. That is unless you want to have no control over the government.

Then any kind of work that feeds you and your family will be acceptable. Any orders from a billionaire will be followed out of sheer terror of starvation or torture or whatever else the billionaires intend to use as coercion.
wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.comto politics @lemmy.world•Canada Ditches U.S. Defense for $1.25 Trillion EU Pact6·1 month agoYes they are winning because they already fucking won by having billions of dollars. wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.comto politics @lemmy.world•Trump EPA drafting a rule that would undo decades of progress on limiting pollution from power plants | CNN5·1 month agoCoal is so massively expensive to build, maintain and operate that it is being phased out by literally every single power generating utility company. There is no possibility that these regulatory changes that have yet to go into effect will change that.
Even if many individual GOP members of the house morally know it is the right thing to do, they will pragmatically choose to condemn the action instead because they are A) bribed B) blackmailed and C) threatened with violence D) all of the above.
