Boy, that is a great visual and a fantastic burn. I’m going to be stealing that, thank you.
He made Mattel print a deck for him that just says “TARIFF” on the card backs.
Yeah, he’s trying to play 3 dimensional chess (and also doing that poorly, mind you), while we’re trying to like…build a house. Our goals aren’t aligned, our actions aren’t aligned, our resources aren’t aligned.
They’re trying to make a violent example of him because they’re running scared. They’re terrified of copycats. They think that projecting an image of fearless anger will distract from the fact that they’re always looking over their shoulders.
Well, Sunita could. Butch is a white man, so he probably won’t unless he does something really heinous like key a Tesla.
Oh, good for them. I missed that.
Whoops, my apologies. I got it from this article, but only because I read too quickly and didn’t catch the “not.”
Good thing they waited until they got down to say this, or their return would’ve been “deprioritized.”
Well, he entered a guilty plea, so that part is fairly open-and-shut. Of course jury nullification isn’t out of the question, but really this case is most likely to come down to a question of sentencing.
Edit: He didn’t plead guilty.
Ah, lucky stiff.
Just hoping won’t ensure there are free and fair elections in 2026.
I didn’t suggest it would. I’m saying don’t pre-emptively do the Republicans’ job of suppressing turnout for them. Get active now, don’t just snipe online.
Turnout won’t matter if nobody protects democracy.
Agreed. So what are you doing to make that happen? Aside from sniping at people online.
This sort of thing isn’t helpful. You do what you can while you can. You assume there will be an election until there isn’t. I know what you’re saying, but unless you have a better option, all it’s going to do is depress turnout just like it did in 2024.
Oh, by no means am I saying that people in your circles are dumb for not using “milquetoast,” I’m just saying that the things that are popular in one sphere aren’t necessarily popular in another.
Incidentally, he and AOC having this roadshow that’s traveling to red areas in particular is in part doing that job of tearing down obstacles all over. He’s not lazily telling other people to do it, he’s just doing it and showing how.
I hope they keep the full-court press going for the entire election cycle. I think it’ll be most powerful during the primary campaign when they’ve put in the work leading up to it; and since their votes in Washington aren’t super effective most of the time, I think this is probably the best use of their time.
Looking at Bernie’s history, I don’t think there’s any way he would disagree with you.
Right, and that’s one thing I’m worried about. Because at some point, it no longer becomes his choice. The man will die someday, and if he dies in office without an appropriate successor coming up behind him, things will be quantifiably worse.
Must be something to do with the circles people run in. I’ve heard the word quite a bit for the past ten years or so; for example, a Star Trek podcast I listen to made a joke about a character from Deep Space Nine being milquetoast (calling him “Lt. Toast”), and they kept that joke running from 2017 through 2022 or so.
“Trust in” him? What kind of cult nonsense are you trying to pull? (hint: I already know what kind, it’s the flavor-aid kind)
