I know that The Matrix is a trans allegory but simulation theory isn’t necessarily the same as being imprisoned in a simulation. It means we might not exist at all. Simulation goes away, we go away. Or maybe it’s like The Matrix and we’re all trans eggs. There’s no way to know which version it is or how many people are real vs simulated.

Throwing aside the current administration… There’s so much to see in the US. All the national parks and other sights. It’s a roadtripper’s dream. One of the most diverse countries as far as landscape and climate is concerned. We have Disneyland in Europe (Paris), but there’s Disney World in Florida which is way bigger (never been to either, not THAT big of a fan myself, but I know there’s loads of Disney fans). NYC, LA and SF are all great cities to visit I hear, though I’ve only been to NYC (lots of fun - there’s so much to discover just by walking around)
Now as a foreigner I’m slightly scared of the current admin despite being pasty white, so I’m not going to visit again anytime soon. But one day I would like to come back for sure. Until then… I do still have a LOT of Europe to discover as well, I’ve only spent any real time in my neighboring countries, others I’ve visited very briefly.
It’s just that we’re so powerful, we need the extra cooling!

What he’s been saying is that NYC has an affordability problem. People can’t afford basic necessities (rent, food, transportation, childcare). Can’t speak for availability and pricing myself, I don’t live in the US.
Now there’s plenty of reasons to consider him awesome - those have been listed by more serious comments than mine.

Also, right-wing media tried to brand him “Zohran the Destroyer” and very promptly stopped doing so when they realized it sounds way too cool. Apparently he’s going to destroy NYC by advocating for 1) raised minimum wage, 2) universal free daycare, 3) A working fucking bus system. He’s got personal experience with the problems of the bus system, numbers, a working proof of concept, and a plan to Trump-Proof the city
I’m not even American and I’m rooting for him. Both because he might actually improve people’s lives and because he just seems awesome. Been a long time I’ve seen a politician with his charisma, enthusiasm, and vision. I hope NYC votes him into the office!

Oh yeah I wasn’t really confused, I just meant to make the point that simulation theory != Matrix. Matrix is A simulation, but simulation theory doesn’t necessitate that we all have real bodies in a “real world”. In fact, I think the matrix version of the simulation is less likely, as it would be more complex to achieve, at least in our reality. In simulation theory, if the simulation stops and is deleted, there may well be literally nothing left of us. That’s not a trans allegory, that’s an existential crisis
