Neither side gives a fuck, preferring to use shootings as a political tool. “They’re coming for your guns!” helped elect Trump at least the first time, and “won’t someone think of the children?” is why I will soon need to apply for a permit just to be able to purchase a firearm in my state instead of universal health care.

Let’s figure out what color is associated with mental health and wear that instead, because over half of all gun deaths each year in the USA are suicides, and no amount of permitting or restriction of magazine sizes or even a successful total ban and eradication of all firearms will change the fact that all those people wanted to die.

Meanwhile neither the Republicans nor my fellow Democrats appear to give the first or smallest fuck, preferring to harp on either disarming honest citizens in the face of fascism or railing against the same whole being fascist.
