Far right politicians are not mindless dupes. They are self-centeredly hopping onto whatever bandwagon they think will best further their personal interest. They are not fooled, they are malicious. They may be only thinking of their immediate self but they are helping build a larger combined evil. If they had any empathy or morals, any backbone, this would not happen. The thing is that simple greed for power should fuel many of our checks and balances but these people can’t even stand up for that. They deserved to be booed and then some.

Maybe, but they also need an heir apparent if dear leaders third inauguration is blocked by something as silly as the Constitution, or if dear leader somehow doesn’t live forever. He wants to stand out as a “strong, independent leader” just as capable of fulfilling Putin wishes and further enriching his corporate owners

And this makes it even worse, complaining about a mildly dissenting opinion, not the breach of security, not a bunch of yahoos who think they are above security and ethical policies, and not talking about a proxy war halfway around the world

Yes those details should clearly be considered classified and the people who exposed those details because of negligence, and willfully ignoring government policy should be removed from positions where they could cause farther harm, and brought to justice

Not just affordability. My kid is in college for education and has already been warned about the trade off with moving somewhere cheap but also with lower education standards, lower pay, lower respectability for educators. Republicans might be ok with the brain drain helping them stay in power, but I don’t see how the residents are ok with being left further and further behind

It’s not that it hits the the wrong person, but that it is being applied blindly without regard to whether it hits the wrong people, on the assumption that there is waste without even looking for it and worst of all on the assumption that agencies implementing policy they have a personal disagreement with are all “waste, fraud and abuse”. And to top it all off, most of these firings are illegal through executive overreach, union busting, lack of any sort of due process or human respect, and implemented through a national security breach violating government privacy and security policies.

Certainly a big criticism of democrats has been they get nothing done but if you look at the legislation they really did get some far reaching improvements codified …… but then it takes years to implement so no one sees the results and the next president can cancel programs before anything is done.

One of the programs I was really frustrated by was building out EV chargers. Republicans had started complaining about nothing being done and the explanation was partly that it required states to figure out how to use it, but this could have been transformative for the EV transition. Now very little was done, the current president cancelled the program and started reneging on its commitments

Last summer I went on a 1,200 mile road trip in an EV and had no problems. But that was in the NorthEast where a lot of charging infrastructure has been built out. We really need to jump start this in a lot of the US where they don’t have the population for it to be immediately profitable. People need to think of it like highways, we don’t just build highways between cities where there’s enough population to make it worthwhile: we know that we’re all stronger with easier travel everywhere. Similarly, you should be able to refuel your vehicle everywhere you can travel with it

This is the real problem for us in the US. Currently debt doesn’t matter: that’s stupid and short sighted but it doesn’t matter. I’m not entirely sure what global de-dollarisation means but US debt is going to matter a hell of a lot more when we’re treated like any other economy

I live in a small city outside a major city. I do not know what Harris plans but I have hope for a recent state law encouraging multi-family housing near transit. We do have a train station at the center of town that’s also a bus hub and a great walkable area with shops and restaurants. We already have larger condo and apartment buildings here, and more of those are our best hope to affordability. While those new places won’t be affordable, all the surrounding older three deckers should drop in price, with increased supply
