as a person from across the ocean, i don’t get this. why would there be need for some different curriculum for homeschooling, and why would the choice depend on the parent? how is it possible you just get to chose? don’t you have to comply with some general standard? here, home-schooling is extremely rare, but if someone undergoes it, they have to use the same textbooks as everyone else and from time to time pass some exams in school to be sure the kid is not behind its peers.

14th_cylon@lemmy.zipto politics @lemmy.world•Naturalized Citizens Are Scared | To become Americans, we promised to defend the laws of the United States. What if defending them now puts our status at risk?16·18 days agoLike, I was just going grocery shopping the other day and had an unmarked van behind me for what felt like an awkwardly long time. I immediately started formulating escape plans. I drove an extra long route to the store just to make sure I wasn’t being followed. Once I parked I sat in my car an extra few minutes to observe if any other suspicious vehicles also parked and if anybody got out. I made sure to message my wife that I parked, that I was on my way into the store, that I was 25%/50%/75% done getting items, that I was checking out, that I was back in the car and headed home.
These are not thoughts I should have to have. It sucks.
jesus fucking christ. i am sorry this is happening to you or anyone else.
that would be really good news for native americans, but really bad one for the rest of the world 😆
