Summary

Over 500 law firms signed an amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie’s lawsuit against Trump’s executive order targeting the firm for representing Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

The brief warns the order threatens legal independence and creates a “climate of fear” for firms handling controversial cases.

While many major firms joined, top earners like Kirkland & Ellis and Latham & Watkins did not, amid reports of negotiations with the White House.

Two firms, WilmerHale and Jenner & Block, joined the suit and secured emergency court orders blocking enforcement.

I’m actually pretty interested to see how things pan out re The Vast Majority of the American Legal Profession v. Orangeboi and Sycophants. The result of this will be extremely telling.

I agree. This is shaping up to look like a constitutional crisis ala Andrew Jackson. As an American, I am terrified of the prospect, but can’t bear to look away.

Remember when people used to joke about lawyers?

Like I just found this one :

Q: How are an apple and a lawyer alike?

A: They both look good hanging from a tree.

Interesting times where we are rooting for lawyers.

    Thanks, Chinese proverb curse.
